Member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, Since obtaining my Masters degree in 1999, I have worked in many different settings while maintaining a private practice for the past fifteen years. In all cases, I was working with families and adults with mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD and phobias. I have extensive practice and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)., Along with psychotherapy, I have conducted many workshops for the community including parenting, and anger management. I have also worked with employees from various organizations to develop personal skills needed for their success., I have experience working in various countries including Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait and USA. I believe that people all over the world are able to make the change they want to see in themselves and sometimes we need someone to help make that change happen.
Although several factors influence the outcome of therapy, few are as important as the alliance between therapist and client. By using a client-centered and culturally sensitive approach, my goal as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a member of the CRPO, is to understand your narrative through empathy, allow you to truly dictate what it is that you seek from therapy and collaborate with you to discover how you can achieve it. I have had an academic and professional career that has taken me through several different countries including Kuwait, India and Canada, and had me work with people from vastly different cultural backgrounds with equally diverse concerns. Each of these experiences has only made me more aware of how differently every individual experiences life. By using modalities like CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Internal Family Systems, I hope to tailor your therapy in a way that works best for you.
When human beings experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. My great passion is bringing healing to people who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience. I help my clients to find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole, and safe.
I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual, and so I follow a holistic approach.
I work with a broad range of issues including relationships, intimacy, anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, low self-esteem, depression, and anger.
My educational background includes a Graduate certificate in Mental Health and Addictions Counselling and a B.A. in Sociology and Criminology from the University of Toronto. I am also a certified anxiety treatment professional CATP.
Besides English, I am fluent in Arabic
